CEDAR FALLS - Steven Cory Goodwin, 47, of Camdenton, Mo., formerly of Milan, Ill., and Cedar Falls, died in Camdenton.

He was born Oct. 15, 1963 in Marshalltown, son of Gerald D. and Sandra K. Hoskins Goodwin. He married Cheryl Hanes. They later divorced.

He graduated from Cedar Fall High School in 1982. He graduated from UNI with two majors, political science and criminology. Mr. Goodwin was a probation officer for 20 years at Rock Island County's probation department where he supervised other probation officers. Mr. Goodwin was active in sports and coached girls little league and assisted coaching girls softball in the Rock Springs, Ill. school system.

Survived by: a daughter, Gillian Goodwin of Milan, Ill.; his parents, Gerald and Sandra Goodwin of Cedar Falls; a sister, Kelly (Pete) Steinhauer of Reedsburg, Wis.; and his maternal grandmother, Bernice Hoskins of Cedar Falls.

He was quoted in a newspaper article, "You put in a lot of effort, a lot of time and, when it doesn't work, sure it's frustrating. The main thing is for them to be honest about everything." He was active in any sport activity that his daughter Gillian competed in. Steve loved to fish in bass tournaments and loved hunting with his dog, Sammy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
