FRANCIS DOYLE ELLIS

Funeral services for Francis Doyle Ellis, 54, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, who died of cancer at 11 p.m. Tuesday at a Cedar Rapids hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Memories, in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. A. T. Washington, pastor of the Sharon United Methodist Church of Cedar Rapids, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military rites. Beatty Beurles Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements, and friends may call there until 11 a.m. Thursday.

Mr. Ellis was born in Mulberry, Kansas, on Feb. 28, 1918, the son of Andrew E. and Lola May Knox Ellis. He married Anna Mae Cress on Dec. 22, 1956, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., and was employed as a plumber at the atomic energy plant under construction at Palo. Mr. Ellis lived in Waterloo for about 10 years and moved to Cedar Rapids about 20 years ago.

He was an active member of the El Kahir Shrine, as well as Mizpah Lodge AF and AM, Boy Scouts of America, DeMolay, Loyal Order of Moose and the plumbers' union. He was also an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Wayne at home and Doyle Lee at Ardmore, Okla.; a daughter, Debra Ann at home; three brothers, Joe of 1037 Fulton St., Charles A. of Cedar Rapids and Harold Williams of Dubuque; and a sister, Mrs. Christina Mae Baskerville of Hiawatha.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Memorials may be given in his name to the El Kahir Jolly Joker Clowns, in care of Louis Holets, Cedar Rapids.
