DR. LAURANCE P. SCOTT

Funeral services for Dr. Laurance Palmer Scott, 81, of Burlington and former longtime Waterloo veterinarian, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Thursday.

Dr. Scott died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday of a heart attack at Schoitz Memorial Hospital.

Laurance Scott was born May 13, 1891, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Geroge Scott of Indepenence. He married Nelle Salomon in 1917 in Waterloo. She died in 1944. On January 31, 1947, Dr. Scott married Alice Mlller in Waterloo.

Dr. Scott graduated from East Waterloo High School and the Kansas State University Weterinary School. He also attended the Veterinary College of Chicago. After college Dr. Scott served in the Army Veterinary Medical Corps. Following his service in the Army ,he was associated with the federal government as an inspector in Poplar' Bluffs, Mo.

He came to Waterloo and entered veterinary practice with his father. He and his father were the official veterinarians for the National Dairy Cattle Congress for 35 years.

In 1936 Dr. Scott moved to Fort Dodge where he was associated with the Fort Dodge Serum Company until 1951. From 1952 until his retirement in 1964, Dr. Scott was employed by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, Becker-Chapman Post of the American Legion in Waterloo, Waterloo Lodge No. 105 AF & AM, the North Central Iowa Veterinary Association, served as secretary and president, of the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Association, and was a member of the Kansas State University Veterinary Medical Alumni Association.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Schreiner of 237 Lovejoy Ave.; one son, Robert G. Scott of 1137 Liberty. Ave., and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and a stepbrother.

Friends may give memorials in his name to the memorial fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington.
