Edmund J. Durben, 43, son of Mrs. Rose Durben, died suddenly on July 23, 1945, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He had been troubled with an ingrown goiter, which had caused the loss of his voice. He regained the power of speech after treatment in the University hospital in Iowa City, although the goiter was slowly growing to his heart.

Edmund J. Durben, son of Joseph and Rose Durben, was born on November 28, 1901, on a farm near Meyer, Iowa.

He was married to Theresa Vogds of Marytown, Wisconsin, August 20, 1929. One son was born to this couple.

He operated a garage in Meyer until several Years ago, when he and his family moved to Stacyville. For the past four years he had been employed in Waterloo.

Surviving are his son, Vernon, who is living in Florida; his mother, Mrs. Rose Durben; five brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral services were held at Visitation Church in Stacyville on Wednesday, July 25, 1945, with the Rev. Mr. Lohberg officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer, wtih the Rev. Manternach performing the rites at the grave.
