CEDAR FALLS — Carroll Gene Potter, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 25, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Silver Creek, Neb., son of Howard and Alvina Mohlman Potter. He married Zelda Mae Wiler on March 23, 1946 in Paris, France. She died Sept. 14, 1994.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a manufacturing representative with ACME Engineering.

Survived by three sons, Jack (Amy) of Everett, Wash., Brad (Janice) of Overland Park, Kan., and Tom (Lynette) of Cave Creek, Ariz.; two daughters, Nancy Potter-Johnson of Sunrise, Fla., and Barb (Gene) Simons of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, Angela (Paul) Wilder, Ben Wagner, Sara (Justin) Montgomery, Josh (Ellen) Potter, John (Nicole) Ramer, Brittany Potter and Haley Potter; six great-grandchildren, Abby and Claire Wilder, Drew, Tyler and Jackson Montgomery and Addison Ramer; three sisters, Janice (Gary) Nantkes of Honolulu, Hawaii, Joyce (George) Townsend of Sun City West, Ariz., and Joan (Keith) Arndt of Lincoln, Neb.; three brothers, Eldon of Columbus, Neb., Neil (Gayle) of Sedona, Ariz., and Don (Patsy) of North Platte, Neb.; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne Potter of Yardley, Pa.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Marvin Potter.

Memorial services 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be provided by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
