WATERLOO - Robert "Bob" Earl Cox, 76, of Waterloo, died at his home while shoveling on Monday, Dec. 20, of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 7, 1934, son of Cecil and Bertha Guysens. He married Juanita Arnaman on Oct. 9, 1952, and they later divorced. He married Judy Lathrop on Oct. 6, 1990. She died Oct. 5, 2007.

Mr. Cox graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1952, then served with the Naval Reserve until 1956. He worked as a laborer at Rath Packing Co. until it closed. He later worked for John Deery Motors and Rydell Chevrolet in the parts department and doing general cleaning.

Survived by: a son, Timothy of Waterloo; a daughter, and Vicki (Scott) Cose of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Sara (Chad) Winters of Lansing, Ryan Cose of Cedar Falls, Matthew (Christine Koury) of Waterloo, Curtis Cox of Ellicott City, Md., and Amanda Cox of Columbia, Mo.; two great-grandchildren; and three stepsons, Scott (Kayla) Lathrop of Raymond, and Robert and Keith Lathrop.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Ruth Gardner; and a brother, Cecil Cox Jr.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Public visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Bob loved to hunt and fish. He was a hard worker who still found time to play - especially bowling - and he still bowled four times per week until the day of his death. He loved to tell stories and was a devoted friend to all he knew. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren.
