WATERLOO - Ted Stephens, 63, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, at his home of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 10, 1947, in Waterloo, son of Eugene R. and Norma Aguas Stephens. He married Mary Conry Sept. 21, 1968, in Waterloo. They later divorced. He married Yolanda Allen. They later divorced. He married Jannie Bumpers. She preceded him in death.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1965 and attended University of Iowa. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam where he earned the Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He graduated from University of Northern Iowa with a business degree. Mr. Stephens worked at Rath Meat Packing Plant, John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co., sold life insurance and retired as an over-the-road truck driver.

Survived by: his father, Eugene of Waterloo; a son, Tony (Sue) Stephens of Marion; a grandson, Alexander Stephens; and a brother, Gary Stephens of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his mother, Norma.

Memorial service: 4 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Public visitation from 2 p.m. until services. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and the Evansdale Amvets Post. 31.

Ted enjoyed watching baseball and football. His favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs, the Bears, the Colts and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandson Alexander. Ted was loved and will be greatly missed.
