STAFFORD, DOCKERY, STRYKER, STILL

WATERLOO — Julianne Stafford, 85, of Waterloo, died Monday, Dec. 6, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born April 5, 1925, in Kirksville, Mo., daughter of Dr. Paul J. and Julia Estelle Dockery Stryker, and after the death of her parents when she was very young, she was adopted by her mother's sister, Ethel Ardella Dockery Still. She married Oren Keith Stafford on May 23, 1947, in Ottawa, Kan. He died Nov. 17, 1976.

Mrs. Stafford graduated from Kirksville High School in 1943, then earned a major in English and a minor in French from Northeast Missouri State (Truman University) in 1947. She worked at Rath Packing Co. until moving to Kirksville for a few years. After returning to the area she worked in the registrar's office as a record analyst at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1990 after 20 years of employment. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Parish, Waterloo, and was a part of the St. Ellen's Social Club. She also was a member of Tri Sigma Sorority.

Survived by: a son, Ronald (Karen) of Elkhart; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Stafford of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Cambra), Carl (Becky), Eric, Daniel (Dana), Sheila, Veronica, Victoria, Katie and Emily; and three great-grandchildren, Oren, Cameron and Bradley.

Preceded in death by a son, David.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Parish, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Episcopal Parish, A.T. Still Museum and Adair County Historical Society, both in Kirksville.

Julianne traveled extensively overseas on vacations, she has been to 48 out of 50 states. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
