Roe, Jesse Oscar –
Jesse Oscar Roe, son of Mary and Mortimer Roe was born April 16, 1882 at Waterloo, Iowa and passed away at his home in Lenox, Iowa on Tuesday, March 13, 1945 at the age of 63 years 10 months and 25 days.

His young manhood was spent in Waterloo , where he attended school, going later to Canby, Minnesota where he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Melby until 1914. Early that year he went to Flaxton, North Dakota where he was united in marriage to Mary Cipra of Canby, Minn.

A year later they came to Lenox, in which vicinity they resided until his death. To this union were born seven children who, with his widow, survive him. They are Grace Alexander of Kansas City, Kansas; Johnny, Motor Machinist Mate, Second Class, United States Navy, Camp Bedford, Va.; Dean, Seaman First Class Aviation Radioman of Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Florida, and Marjory, Gene, Bonnie and Doris at home; Mrs. Dean Roe of Lenox, one son-in-law, K.E. Alexander, serving with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific; one sister, Cora Roe and one brother, Fred Roe, both of Waterloo, Iowa and a host of friends. His parents, a sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Roe had been in failing illness for the past year but his condition was not thought to be serious until the last few weeks, and he retained his good humor and jolly disposition until the last.

Funeral services were conducted be the Rev. E. F. Hagee Friday afternoon in the Barber Funeral Home. Music was furnished by Marcia Bender with Annola Toler at the piano. Interment was in the local cemetery.
