RAUSCH, GUSTISON, ALBENSOEDER

On Nov. 27, 2010, our beloved husband, dad and grandpa left this life to join our eternal Father in heaven. Robert was born May 30, 1932, in Waverly, to Robert Roy and Claire Marguerite Rausch.

He graduated from West High in Waterloo in 1952. On May 3, 1952, he married Mary Elizabeth Gustison and celebrated 58 years of marriage on May 3, 2010.

Robert received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Iowa in 1957. In 1961 he received his juris doctorate degree and passed the Iowa bar exam that same year.

In June 1961 he welcomed his daughter, Laura A. Albensoeder. In July 1963 a son, Randall Roy Rausch (deceased) was born. Then in August 1970, John J. Rausch was born.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Laura A. Albensoeder (Karl); and a son, John J. Rausch (Robbyn). He has five grandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Albensoeder, Alexander Robert Albensoeder, Sierra Mae Steen, Hayden Robert Rausch and Blake James Rausch.

He began his 49 years of practicing law in Jefferson. He then moved back to Waterloo to complete his many years as a lawyer. He also taught at Hawkeye Tech in the Police Science Department for several years and was an assistant in the Black Hawk County Attorney's Office for a number of years. In 1970 he practiced with his great friend, Henry Cutler, as the Cutler Rausch Law Firm. In 1980 the Rausch Law Firm was formed. His daughter, Laura, joined her father's firm in 1985 until her marriage in 1987. His son, John, practiced law with his father from 1995 until Robert's death.

Robert was a member of Cedar Valley Community Church, the Iowa Bar Association, the Iowa Association of Justice and the American Association of Justice. He served on the Board of Directors of Elmwood Cemetery for many years until his death.

A celebration of Robert's life will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Cedar Valley Community Church, 3520 Ansborough Ave., Waterloo, with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church and for an hour before services on Wednesday. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Community Church or the Cancer Treatment Center, 200 E. Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo.
