DUNKERTON — Rosemary Anne "Rosie" Speed, 66, of Dunkerton, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of cancer.

She was born Aug. 19, 1944, in Waterloo, daughter of Leo and Martha McBride Neufield. She married Richard "Dick" Speed on Oct. 27, 1962, in Preston, Minn. He died June 26, 2009.

Mrs. Speed graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1962 and attended Pitzie's Beauty School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dunkerton Red Hat Chix.

Survived by: two sons, Dion (Patricia) of Jesup and Darrin (Lynn) of Waterloo; a daughter, Debbie (Troy) Vaughn of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren, Brooke, Josh, Jesse, Travis, Lacey, Rocky, Sara, Sydnie, Jordan, Brandon and Derick; three great-grandchildren, Jamie, Beyonce and Damien; a sister, Martha Lee (Mogens) Christensen of Cedar Falls; a brother-in-law, Bob (Brenda) Speed of Dunkerton; a sister-in-law, Marie Speer of Huxley; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: an infant son, Dwayne; her parents; and a brother, Paul Edward Neufield.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Waterloo, with inurnment at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

The three Speed children have gone through such great loss in the past 16 months, but are at peace knowing their parents are together, once again.
