CEDAR FALLS - Arthur L. Davis, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, at home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Berryville, Ark., son of Arthur Lee Davis Sr. and Eva Mae Loving. He married Shirley Anhalt on May 2, 1951, in Fort Lawton, Wash.

He graduated from Simpson College and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea. Mr. Davis was an insurance agent for many years, co-owned Black Hawk Publishing and founded Arthur L. Davis Publishing in 1983. He was a member of the Cedar Investment Club 2, St. Patrick Catholic Church Knights of Columbus, VFW and AMVETS.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Sheila (Jack) Mixdorf, Nancy (Mark) Miller and Lisa (Joe) Sevcik, all of Cedar Falls; two sons, Brad (Shirley) of Manchester and Scott (Wendy) of Cedar Falls; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth of Cedar Falls, John (Emma) of Deckard, Tenn., Ernie (Joy) of Phoenix, Sidney (Ellie) of Vermillion, S.D., and Edwin (Bonnie) of Groverton, Ind.; and two sisters, Arline James of Des Moines and Eva Mae Anderson of Seattle.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Brenda Davis; two sisters, Kathleen Simonsma and Laurel Ann Opperman; and three brothers, Keith, Lewis and Jeri James Davis Millard.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
