WATERLOO — Barbara Kay Horan, 67, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 31, at home of cancer.

She was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Paxton, Ill., daughter of Albert and Edna Gerber Jensen. She married Arthur Horan on July 9, 1960, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Waterloo. He died Nov. 1, 2006.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1960. She received her nursing degree from Allen College of Nursing. Mrs. Horan was employed as a registered nurse in the Allen Hospital emergency room for 27 years. She worked at John Deere Medical Group for seven years until retirement.

Survived by: her mother of Waterloo; five sons, Mark of Des Moines, Kevin (Karla), Nick (Patricia) and Scott (Jean), all of Waterloo, and Chris (Calista) of Phoenix; three daughters, Kathy Horan of Waterloo, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Yates of West Des Moines and Susan (Mike) Robinson of Phoenix; 21 grandchildren, Nicholette (Jamie) Hincapie, Holly, Luke, Jacob and Andrew Horan, Matthew, Melissa, Katie and Konnor Horan, Amanda, Jessica and Christian Horan, Jensen, Delaney, Cassidy and Beck Horan, Halle, Joseph and Trey Yates and Sam and Ben Robinson; two brothers, Mike Hay of Florida and Jeff Hay of Waterloo; and two sisters, Garnet (John) Mehlert of Dysart and Sharon (Jim) McIntee of Haines City, Fla.

Preceded in death by her father.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a private family burial. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrot & Wood Chapel of Memories, with a 7 p.m. vigil, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Barb will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
