CEDAR FALLS — Jack E. Parsons, 62, of Marshalltown, formerly of Davenport and Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 30, at Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown.

He was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Cedar Falls, son of John Lewis and LaVonne Georgia Carolus Parsons. He married Kathie Jo Kapela on Oct. 5, 1969, in Hudson; they later divorced.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1966 and attended the University of Northern Iowa for a year. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was a system technician at Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1990 due to health issues. He was active at Peace of Peace Lutheran Church in Davenport.

Survived by: two daughters, Heather L. (Mark) Ruschitzko of Austin, Texas, and Amber (Jeff) Leech of Geneseo, Ill.; three brothers, Rick (Diane) of Fort Collins, Colo., Chuck (Cathy) of Cedar Falls and Mark (Terry) of Dike; and a sister, Kim Ellen (Clifford) Moye of Reinbeck.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Services: 1 p.m. today at Iowa Veterans Home Chapel, Marshalltown. Public visitation for two hours before services today at the chapel. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to Iowa Veterans Home.

Jack was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed bowling.
