EVANSDALE - Thelma Irene Kuriger, 75, of Evansdale, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center, Waterloo, from complications of diabetes.

She was born July 25, 1935, in Des Moines, and was raised by her stepfather and mother, Paul and Elnora Solem Quinn. She married Phillip K. Kuriger on June 14, 1954, in Cedar Falls.

Mrs. Kuriger was a Headstart teacher in Waterloo for 29 years before retiring.

Survived by: her husband; two sons, Phillip Kuriger Jr. of Evansdale and Brad (Katrin) Kuriger of Waterloo; three daughters, Vickie (Jim) Bone of Monticello, Tammie (Dean) Fairbanks of Evansdale and Jeannette (Dennis) Cunningham of Colo; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Minetta) Jones of Waverly; and two sisters, Mary (Rick) Gibson-Hansen of Florida and Elizabeth (Carl) Loffredo of Norwalk.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Debbie Marie Turner; and a brother, Don Jones.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
