CEDAR FALLS — Maxine A. Lafrenz, 84, of Mason City, formerly of Cedar Falls and Hudson, died Thursday, Oct. 21, at her daughter’s home in Prior Lake, Minn., of cancer.

She was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Montezuma, daughter of Peter and Verna Peterson Seaborg. She married Donald E. Lafrenz on Aug. 8, 1948, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died in 1985.

Mrs. Lafrenz graduated from Manson High School and attended beauty school in Waterloo. After moving to Mason City in 1964 she and her husband became independent business owners. She later became owner/secretary of Don Lafrenz Ford Lincoln Mercury and president of Lafrenz Land Co. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survived by: two daughters, Debbie (Ronald) Thompson of Council Bluffs and Janine (Harry) Alcorn of Prior Lake, Minn.; two sons, Gary of Mason City and Ronald (Lana) of Clear Lake; 11 grandchildren, Ellen, Rachel, Alex, Connor, Lauren, Ryan, Katie, Morgan, Anna, Harry III and Maggie; and two sisters, Alene (Richard) Stewart of Pocahontas and Frances Carl of Montezuma.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Helen Doster.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, both in Mason City. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the Maxine A. Lafrenz Memorial Fund or to the church.

Maxine loved and cherished her family and in return was loved without limits by her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
