FUNERAL SERVICE
OF JOHN M. TRIPP
AT LA PORTE CITY

Burial Takes Place Today in
Mt. Auburn Cemetery;
Widow Is Bedfast.

LAPORTE CITY, IOWA, Jan. 15.—Funeral service for John M. Tripp, a well known resident of this community for many years, was held this afternoon at 1:30 in the Methodist Church, conducted by Reverend E. E. Cements of Nashua, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. T. M. Nielsen. Burial was in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

John M. Tripp was born near Syracuse. N. Y., January 8, 1843. When a small child he came to Sandwich, Illinois, where he lived until 1865. Mr. Tripp volunteered his service of his country in the Civil war and was a member of Co. H One Hundred Fifty-sixth regiment, Illinois infantry. He received his discharge in Memphis, Tennessee, August 1, 1865.

On Sept. 7, 1865 at. Yorkville, Illinois, he was married to Lovisa Kelsey and immediately following their marriage he and his bride came to Iowa in a covered wagon and located on a farm one-half mile south of Mt. Auburn. They resided there 28 years, moving then to a farm between Mt. Auburn and La Porte City, and later to La Porte City.

Surviving are his aged wife, who is bedfast suffering from a broken hip received in a fall about a month ago, five sons and one daughter; Victor B., Beloit, Kansas; George V., Randalia, lowa; Charles E., Redwing, Minnesota; Fred J., Warrensburg, Missouri; Robert B. and Mrs. Mary D. Reed, LaPorte City, all of whom are here to attend .the funeral.
