CEDAR FALLS — Robert L. Drum, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 16, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born May 14, 1931, in Cedar Falls, son of Leo A. and Elsie Schroeder Drum. He married Darlyce A. Smith on Aug. 20, 1949, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Drum was employed with the Cedar Falls Police Department for 16 years, and then with the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department. He retired in 1974 from the Cedar Falls Parks Department.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Dan (Jeika) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Vicki Goshon of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Joy (Ryan) Hauge and Crystal (Tyson) Underwood, both of Ames, Steven Goshon of Waterloo and Jeidan Drum of Cedar Falls; a stepgrandchild, Melanie (Bob) Novick of New York; six great-grandchildren, Lily and Rebekah Hauge, Klaire, Emmie and Parker Underwood and Savanna Flynn; a stepgreat-grandson, Jake Novick; a grandson-in-law, Tim Flynn; and a brother, Donald E. of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Tom; a daughter, Jody Freese; and two grandchildren, Dean Allen Freese and Sara Flynn.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie Lakes Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
