WATERLOO - Robert S. Klinger, 40, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 6, at Covenant Medical Center of glioblastoma brain cancer.

He was born Nov. 8, 1969, in Bossier City, La., son of Larry and Prudence Colaw Klinger.

He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1988. He worked 13 years for contractors as a plasterer and exterior finisher. He retired in 2004 due to a disability.

Survived by: a son, Carter Klinger of Waterloo; two stepsons, Jesse Campbell of Waterloo and Nicholas (Randi Larson) Woodson of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Lyndsie Woodson of Waterloo; his parents, Larry and Prudence Klinger of Waterloo; a brother, Jeffrey (Cheri) Klinger of Sumner; a sister, Kristin (Brad Slattenow) Wood of Waterloo; a special friend, Angela Buss and her children Zach and Abbey; a paternal grandmother, Genavene Klinger of Waterloo; maternal grandparents, Emerson and Jane Colaw of Cincinnati; niece and nephews, Justin Klinger, Marlie Klinger, Troy and Jaden Wood, and Nathan Slattenow; and a stepgranddaughter, Jada Lynn Woodson.

Preceded in death by: his paternal grandfather, Murl Klinger.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Waterloo First United Methodist Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
