WATERLOO - George J. "Junior" Miller, 85, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born March 31, 1925, in Fayette, son of George E. and Eva Harriman Miller. He married Maxine E. Woodworth Oct. 25, 1947, in Iowa City. She died July 11, 2008.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for many years, was a police officer in Evansdale and a driver for H&W Motor Express, retiring in 1985.

Survived by: two sons, Wayne (Vickie) of Kissimee, Fla., and Jeff (Dawne) of Waterloo; two daughters, Sandra (Daniel) Clemons of Witchita, Kan., and Eileen (Craig) Cheney of Greene; eight grandchildren, Brad Miller, Daniel S. Clemons, Stephen Rindels, Tara Adelgren, Matthew Miller, Jennifer Huisenga, Ryan Miller and Caley Cheney; two stepgrandchildren, Brooke Stocks and Ricky Ward; 10 great-grandchildren, Jaxon Adelgren, Brooklyn Adelgren, Hannah Rindels, Austen Clemons, Ashlee Clemons, Noah Miller, Mason Huisenga, Elijah Miller, Adyson Huisenga and Gaven Huisenga; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Ricky, Nicholas, Jack Ward and Michael Stocks; and a brother, Butch Miller of Arizona.

Preceded in death by: a great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Clemons; three brothers, Doyle, Darrel and Jay; and two sisters, Donna Lee Miller and Violet Strottman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fellowship of New Beginnings Wesleyan Church, South Street and Hammond Avenue, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, V.F.W. Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
