Funeral services will be at St. John's Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Saturday for Francis Anthony Stephan Conroy, 49, of 1202 Mulberry St., who died Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Mr. Conroy was born July 5, 1910, at Jefferson, Ia., the son of James F. and Mary Fields Conroy.

He married Ida Zitzlsperger on Jan. 15, 1935, at Dedham, Ia., and they moved to Waterloo in 1939.

Mr. Conroy was assistant manager of the Gamble's store here until 1943 when he entered the armed forces and served in World War II.

Returning to Waterloo in 1945, he became part owner of the Friendly Tavern and was also employed by the Iowa Liquor Control Commission.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Amvets.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Linda Marie, and Mary Francine, both at home; three brothers, James, of St. Paul, Minn.; Patrick, of Carroll, Ia., and Emmett of Washington, D. C.; four sisters, Mrs. Leo Wiederin of Carroll; Mrs. Leo Spieker of Carroll; Mrs. Felix Langenfelt of Carroll, and Mrs. Leo Winnike.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Rosary will be recited at the Oppold funeral home Friday at 7 p.m. by the parish and at 7:30 p.m. by the Holy Name Society.
