Mrs. Broadbent Died on Friday

Mrs. Eliza Broadbent, wife of Benjamin Broadbent, died August 1 at the residence in Bennington township, the cause of death being old age and complications.

Born in Indiana.

Eliza Jane Marquis was born Jan. 9, 1828, in Miami county, Indiana. In 1854 she moved with her parents to a farm in south Bremer county, and in 1866 was united in marriage to Benjamin Broadbent. They took up their residence on a farm in Bennington township and made that their home except five years spent at Janesville and a six years' residence at Dunkerton. Three years ago they returned to the old homestead.

Surviving Relatives.

Besides the husband, deceased leaves two sons, Henry of Waterloo and Arthur, residing south of the home farm. Mrs. Broadbent was a faithful member of the Mt. Hope Methodist church, and the family was one of the first interested in its organization.

Funeral Services.

The funeral services were held this afternoon at the residence, at 1 o'clock, with Rev. J. A. Haehlen, pastor of the Calvary Evangelical church of Waterloo, in charge. Burial was in the Dunkerton cemetery.
