Benj. Broadbent Funeral Tuesday

The funeral services for Benjamin Broadbent, who died yesterday afternoon at his home in Bennington township, will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at the residence. Rev. J. A. Haehlen of the Calvary Evangelical church will be in charge and burial will be at Dunkerton.

Born in England.

Mr. Broadbent was born in Hibbleston, England, Sept. 15, 1837, and came to America when 42 years of age. He resided in Michigan sixteen years, moving to Iowa in 1865. He located on a farm in Bennington township, and Dec. 25 of the same year was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Jane Marquis. He was one of the earliest settlers of county and always worked for the uplift and benefit of the community. The family then moved to Janesville, where they resided a few years and later residing at Dunkerton. Five years ago the family returned to the farm, where they have since continued to reside. Mr. Broadbent was a member of the Episcopal church of England, but since living here joined the Methodist Episcopal church. Mrs. Broadbent died August 2, this year.

Two sons survive, Henry Broadbent of this city and Arthur Broadbent living at the old home in Bennington township. There are five grandchildren.
