EVANSDALE - John Walter Lucas, 90, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of a short illness.

He was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Wadsworth, Ill., son of Frank R. and Doramay Odom Lucas. He married Maxine Marion Aslhouse May 5, 1984, on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. She died Oct. 6, 2008.

He graduated from Warren Township High School in 1939. Mr. Lucas was a farmer and worked for Honeywell Co.

Survived by: his children, Roger G. (Stacey) Stafford of Paridise, Calif., Marion J. Stafford of Evansdale, Lloyd R. (E.-Su) Stafford of Redwood City, Calif., and Janet (Roger) Wolf of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann May Alshouse of Waukegan, Ill.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Albert Lucas; and three sisters, Ledia Patterson, Margaret Poullen and Pearle Alshouse.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, with burial in Fontana Cemetery, Hazleton. Public visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial fund: has been established.
