WATERLOO — George C, Gilbert, 93, of Ridgeway Place, died at home Saturday, Sept. 18.

He was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Waterloo, son of Joseph and Nellie Burke Gilbert. He married Helen Pauline Frye on Dec. 28, 1940, in Waterloo.

Mr. Gilbert worked for Rath Packing Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1978.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Terry (Doris) of Hudson; a daughter, Patricia Bauer of Denver; a sister-in-law, Wilma Gilbert of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Brett Gilbert, Brock Gilbert, Jeff Bauer and Stacie (Tim) Hartman; and four great-grandchildren, Riley Gilbert, Reece Gilbert, Joel Hartman and Hannah Hartman.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Burton.

Services: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Salvation Army or Cedar Valley Hospice.
