CEDAR FALLS - Darrel D. "Tub" Kelling, 70, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 16, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center, Waterloo.

He was born Jan. 19, 1940, in Fredericksburg, son of Waldo and Darlena Weidler Kelling. He married Shirley Harkin on Nov. 5, 1961, in Waterloo.

Mr. Kelling was a graduate of Waterloo East High School and was employed for 17 years at the Gerald Sulky Co., Waterloo. He was a self-employed painter for 31 years.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Dan D. (Melinda) and Dave D. (Chris), both of Cedar Falls; three grandsons, Mason, Trevor and Daulton Kelling; a brother, Kerry K. of Cedar Falls; two nephews, Creston (Mary Kay) Van Way of Dewar and Craig (Debra) Cook of Cedar Falls; a niece, Betty (Len) Swiatly of Cedar Falls, eight great-nieces and nephews; and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Max Allen and Gerald Lee; and a sister, Margaret Jane Kelling.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
