WATERLOO - Lenora "Mama Nig" Scott, 80, of Waterloo, died at home Friday, Sept. 10, of natural causes.

She was born July 21, 1930, in Holmes County, Miss., daughter of the Rev. Mckinley Jones and Clara James. She married A.C. Scott on June 12, 1948, in Holmes County, Miss.

Mrs. Scott attended school in Holmes County and joined Zion City Missionary Baptist Church, Ebenezer, Miss. Upon moving to Waterloo, she joined Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Eugene Williams and now under the leadership of Pastor Belinda Creighton-Smith. She was active on the Mother's Board.

Survived by: eight daughters, Jephrine Cook of Pickens, Miss., Bessie M. Fletcher of Memphis, Tenn., Rosie McGrone, Leslie Christine (Elder Albert) Meeks, Elaine King, all of Waterloo, and Mary Walker, Carrie Scott and Brenda (Paul) Foster, all of Peoria; three sons, Willie Earl (Christine) Scott of Omaha, Neb., and Charles Ray Scott and Darren (Nicole) Scott, both of Waterloo; 66 grandchildren, five of whom she raised, Myra Jones, Beverly Jones, Sheila (Joseph) Carter and Kenneth Jones, all of Waterloo, and Michael (Amy) Jones of Houston; 97 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jake Jones of New Orleans and Mckinley Jones of Kansas City, Mo.; and two sisters, Gussie Freeman of Memphis and Mae Catherine Falls of Lexington, Miss.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by: her husbands, A.C. Scott and Joseph Barnes; a daughter, Helen Jones; three sons, Sammie, Levi and Larry; four brothers, Levi, Aaron, Burl and Eugene Jones; and four sisters, Alice Jones, Rena Freeman, Mariah Jones and Norma Fletcher.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday, all at the church. Sanders Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the family at 318 Halstead St., where they will receive friends.
