WATERLOO - Joy Ann Kortemeyer, 80, of Waterloo, died Friday, Sept. 3, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Evanston, Ill., daughter of Raymond and Clair Dano Gillespie. She married Elmer Kortemeyer in Englewood, Colo., Sept. 9, 1950. He died in 2003.

Mrs. Kortemeyer graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1951 and received her physical therapy certificate from the University of Colorado-Denver in 1952. She had worked as a physical therapist in several places, including Phoenix, Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Grundy Center. She was a member of Baha'i Faith.

Survived by: two sons, Karl of Monterrey, Mexico, and Paul of Waterloo; two daughters, Clare (Scott Fell) Wright of Spooner, Wis., and Katy (Monte Bates) Kortemeyer of Waterloo; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by: a stillborn son, Joel.

Memorial services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service. Burial was Sept. 5 in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
