WATERLOO — Albert L. Tjebkes, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, Aug. 27, at home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1923, near Parkersburg, son of Albert H. and Grace Buseman Tjebkes.

He worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works and Rath Packing Co. for many years. He was a charter member of Grace Reformed Church.

Survived by: his wife, Virginia Tjebkes of Waterloo; a son, Steven of Waterloo; two daughters, Judy (Dennis) Gondek of Mount Vernon and Pamela Tjebkes of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Joshua (Vickie) Gondek, Jacob (Julie) Gondek, Monica (Dennis) Jarchow and Holly Dorwin; four great-grandchildren, Jack and Jenna Jarchow and Nathan and Nicholas Gondek; a sister, Arelene Pruisner of Allison; two sisters-in-law, Helen Tjebkes and Edna Tjebkes, both of Allison; a special niece, Brenda (Harlan) Hempen; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Henry, Tom and John; and three sisters, Annie Lindaman, Grace Bohner and Reka Harberts.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Garden, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
