Jacob Betts died at the home of his grandson, Ellery Buchan, one mile southwest of the city at an early hours on Sunday morning, of dropsy.

Mr. Betts was 83 years old. He was born in Pennsylvania, and came to this country in an early day.

He leaves behind him three children, two daughters and one son, Mrs. Mary J. Buchan
Mrs.Jacob Geier and Lyman Betts two of whom live here and in Benton County near by.

The funeral obsequies took place yesterday p.m. from the M. E. Church. Rev. G. E. Shear officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in West View Cemetery.

Mr. Betts wife died about eight years ago.
