CALDWELL, SINNWELL, OPPELT, WEST

WATERLOO - Dave W. Caldwell, 49, of Dubuque, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 29, 1960, in Waterloo, son of A. Wayne and Martha Sinnwell Caldwell. He married Vicki Oppelt in Dubuque in 1992.

He served with the U.S. Airforce. Following his discharge, he was employed as a signalman for the CNIC Railroad. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survived by: his wife; two children, Ashley and Cody, both of Dubuque; a sister, Sharon West of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Mike (Pam) Caldwell of Mount Vernon and Joe (Teri) Caldwell of Dubuque; his mother-in-law, Pat Oppelt of Dubuque; five brothers-in-law, Bob (Beth) of Carmel, Ind., Tom (Kelly) of Denver, Mike (Kelly), Dave (Maurella) and Scott (Jeana) Oppelt, all of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents; his father-in-law, Bob Oppelt; and a brother-in-law, Scott West.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, Dubuque, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation also Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to the Dave Caldwell Memorial Fund.

Dave was an avid golfer, and enjoyed doing yardwork. He was an honest man, and always willing to help others, especially the neighbors. Dave always saw the good in other people.
