WATERLOO - Laila C. Ruisch of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 31, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born April 5, 1911, in Emmetsburg, daughter of Christian and Lise Jensen Shauger. She married Robert Ruisch on Sept. 25, 1935, at Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He died Nov. 25, 2006.

Mrs. Ruisch graduated from West Waterloo High School and Gates Business College. She worked for Iowa Public Service Co. She was a president of Chapter IX, PEO.

Survived by: three daughters, Marilyn Carter of Sioux City, Barbara (William) Hessel of Lakewood, Colo., and Diane Ruisch Larsen of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Nelson Ruisch of Leawood, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Steven (Shannon) Carter, Aandrea Carter, Jacqueline Shafer, Eric (Heather) Carter, Robert G. (Lisa) Ruisch III, Kimberly (John) Sykora, David Ruisch, William (Desirée) Hessel and David (Miwako) Hessel; 13 great-grandchildren, Kegan Carter, Robert Carter, Taylor Ruisch, Sidney Ruisch, Robert G. Ruisch IV, Lily Sykora, Charles Sykora, Emma Sykora, Elise Carter, Eric Carter, Laila Grace Carter, Isabelle Carter and John Paul Carter.

Preceded in death by: a son, Robert G. Jr.; a son-in-law, Steven Carter; a brother, M.J Shauger; and two sisters, Leona Shauger and Marian Britzman.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity American Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home.
