LAU, CRANDAL, SCHAEFER, HATCH

CEDAR FALLS - R. Dale Lau, 81, of Green Valley, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, July 20, in Tucson.

He was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Shelbina, Mo., son of Roland Dewey Lau and Mabel Pricilla Crandal Lau. He married Carol Jane Schaefer on Nov. 21, 1953.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School and served in the U.S. National Guard. He was an expert marksman. He earned a degree in engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He worked for IBM in Colorado. His IBM employment took the him to Arizona, where he retired after 27 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Mark B. (Jamie) Lau of Superior, Colo., and Daniel C. Lau of Green Valley; a daughter, Ann M. (Gregg) Hatch of Orem, Utah; three grandchildren, Cameron, Jennifer and Natalie; and a brother, Donald (Ellen) of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Debra Sue.

Services: were July 24 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sahuarita Stake Center, with burial in Orem, Utah City Cemetery.

His hobbies were golfing, bird watching, fishing, hunting and watching sports, especially the Denver Broncos. Dale loved his family and was a great example to all of them. He always had a smile or a laugh for friends and family.
