WATERLOO - Richard Adams, 75, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, July 14, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center.

He was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Mitchell, son of Charles and Sadie Pfliger Adams. He married Lois M. Carpenter Sept. 5, 1956, in La Crosse, Wis. She died Jan. 11, 2009.

He worked for Viking Pump and John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Adams served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survived by: two sons, Barry and Keith Adams, both of Waterloo; two daughters, Becky (Darrell) Starkey and LaNette Adams, all of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Amy Adams, Rob Leavell, Brian Adams, Kevin Adams, Rachel Leavell, Kimi Adams, Kacey Adams, Kara Adams and Charles Adams; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Valasek of Mitchellville and Genevieve (Roy) Walters of Osage; and a brother, Charles (Sonja) Adams of Arizona City, Ariz.

Preceded in death by: three sisters, Vivian Orman, Geraldine Johnson and Betty Brooking; and a brother, Bill Adams.

Services: public visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home followed by cremation and burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
