WATERLOO - Joseph "Reg" O'Malley, 86, died Wednesday, July 7, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Waukon, son of Joseph Francis and Loretta Connor O'Malley. He married Charlotte Anne Regan on April 26, 1948, in Waukon. She died March 9, 2010.

He was in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He worked for Rath Meat Packing Plant and was self-employed in the area.

Survived by: four sons, Robert (Sarah) of Bella Vista, Ark., Thomas (Shellie) of Fort Wayne, Ind., David (Liz) of Waterloo and Anthony (Cindy) of North Port, Fla.; a daughter, Susan Jans of Tucson, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Darlene) and Pat (Dorothy), all of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Mary Ellen Zoll of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by: a son, Joseph; two infant daughters; a brother, Dennis O'Malley; and a son-in-law, Dennis Jans.

Services: will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary by the Ambassadors of Mary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
