WATERLOO — Mary Bennett, 86, formerly of 1663 Mount Carmel Drive, died Wednesday, June 30 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Water Valley, Miss., daughter of Cuba Tredwell Sr. and Erma Suggs. She married William Bennett in 1950 in Waterloo. He died in 1983.

Mrs. Bennett retired from John Deere.

Survived by: a sister, the Rev. Annie Young of Waterloo; and an adopted son, Jerry Burt of Minneapolis.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, two infants and John Flakes; and four sisters, Lucille Rogers, Margaret Turner, Helen Todd and Edith Turner.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Payne Memorial AME Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Sanders Funeral Service.
