WATERLOO — Lyle W. Pfantz, 90, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, July 5.

He was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Pipe Stone, Minn., son of Walter and Luella Hennies Pfantz. He married Lola G. Moretz Nov. 7, 1943, in Mason City. She died June 18, 1995.

Mr. Pfantz attended St. John's Parochial School, State Center, for eight years, and graduated from State Center High School in 1937. He then graduated from Hamilton's Business College. He joined the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champ Light Weight Class in 1939. He worked as a loan officer for Morris Plan, retiring in 1985.

Survived by: a brother, Verne of State Center; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters, Elizabeth Pfantz in infancy and Jean Lueders.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Military rites will be conducted at the church by American Legion Post 138 and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church.

Lyle enjoyed golf, boating and hunting. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
