WATERLOO - Lee G. Haight, 88, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, June 30, at Western Home Communities Martin Center of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Buena Vista County, son of Trevor and Ivy Hunt Haight. He married Marjorie May on Sept. 17, 1949, in Oak Park, Ill. She died June 24, 1999.

Mr. Haight served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic during World War II from 1942-46. He was stationed in England, Belgium, France, the Philippines and Korea. He returned to the family farm in Bennington Township, where he had lived since 1931. He farmed with his father and later his son until retirement in 1986. He was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer for 38 years.

Survived by: two sons, Robert (Emily) of Oak Forest, Ill., and Richard (Janis) of Waterloo; two daughters, Marilyn Haight of Minneapolis and Marty (Bill) Kajewski of Oelwein; a brother, Bruce of Edina, Minn.; a sister, Treva Anderson of New York; and 10 grandchildren, Dave (Megan) Haight, Daniel Haight, Cory Haight-Nali, Kyle Haight-Nali, Alex Haight, Chris Haight, Pat Haight, Angie (Brian) Spannagel, Kim (Adam) Kerns and Greg Kajewski.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Mount Hope United Methodist Church or the family.

He enjoyed traveling and visiting his children and grandchildren.
