EVANSDALE - Donald B. Bigler, 80, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, June 15, at home

He was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Postville, son of Louis and Amanda Jauert Bigler. He married Mary Fischer Jan. 1, 1948, in Clermont. They later divorced. He married Ethel Henry July 20, 1974, in Waterloo.

Mr. Bigler worked at the dock and powerhouse for Rath Packing Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Rath Retirees, the National Trappers Association, and a former member of the Eagles.

Survived by: his wife; four sons, Ric (Marilyn) of Olympia, Wash., Dan (Cheryl) and David (Barb), both of Evansdale, and Ben (Jill) of Independence; three daughters, Leona of Evansdale, Joyce (Ron) Stohr of Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Sandi (Calvin) Horn of Elk Run Heights; a sister, Sister Mary Lou Bigler of Dubuque; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a stepson, Raymond Henry; a brother, Louis; a sister, Leoma Bigler; and a granddaughter, Cody Henry.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, Waterloo, with a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.
