WATERLOO - Rick Guhl, 59, of Palmer, Alaska, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, June 9, in Palmer of a long illness.

He was born Sept. 23, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Edmund and Delores Lawson Guhl. He married Jo Marilyn Keifer in 1972; they later divorced. He married Sara Short March 17, 1979, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Mr. Guhl graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1968. He moved to Alaska in 1983.

Survived by: his parents; his wife, Sara; three daughters, Sara (Cory) Freiburger of Bellevue, Erin (Joshua) Swigart of Palmer and Ellen Guhl of Tyrone, Penn.; a son, Brian McNeal of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Rhonda (Billy) Stewart of Grandview, Texas and Deanna (Darin) Wilkerson of Canyon, Texas; three brothers, Larry (Char) of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Lora) of Solon and Ralph (fiance Patty Grondine) of Virginia Beach, Va.; and 10 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his first wife; and a brother, Jim.

Memorial services: will be held at a later date in Palmer.
