WATERLOO - James W. "Jim" Weimer, 86, of Waterloo, formerly of Georgetown, Texas, died Thursday, June 3, at Friendship Village.

He was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Lancaster, Pa., son of Ira J. and Maude S. Steinman Weimer. He married Geraldine M. Brenneman on Sept. 29, 1945, in Lancaster.

Mr. Weimer graduated from high school in Lancaster and from Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia. He worked at Rohm and Haas Chemical Co. for more than 40 years, retiring as project engineer. He served in the U.S. Army 27th Armored Battalion in North Africa and Italy during World War II.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, J. Ron (Vivian) of Waterloo and Gregory of Telford, Pa.; a daughter, Karen (Tom) Boross of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Ian (Allie) Reid, Eric Weimer, Heidi Oates, Wendy (Corey) Ort, Jim (Erin) Weimer, Jason (Doni) Weimer and Amy (Scott) Blakesley; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Everett Weimer.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 138, V.F.W. Post 1623, and the Iowa National Guard.

Memorials: may be directed to Grace Brethren Church or Friendship Village Auxiliary.
