WATERLOO — Duane V. Hamman, 82, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 26, at home.

He was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Akron, son of John P. and Minnie Simon Hamman. He married Anna A. Dorn on Sept. 11, 1948, in Wertach, Germany.

Mr. Hamman served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a truck driver with the Waterloo Street Department for 20 years, retiring in 1989.

Survived by: his wife; a son, James (JoAnn) of Waterloo; a daughter, Lisa (Russ) Heiple of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Maggie and Leslie Hamman and Jonathon and Kelsey Heiple; and a sister-in-law, Betty Hamman of California.

Preceded in death by: his parents; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Cyril (Lois), John, Arnold (Marcella), Bernard (Phyllis) and Robert (Edna); and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pansy (Joe) Langbein and June (Earl) Munn.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with entombment in Garden of Memories Chapel Mausoleum. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
