WATERLOO — Jay Dee Garwood, 63, of Waterloo, died Monday, May 24, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab.

He was born July 20, 1946, in Dexter, son of Macy and Clara Garwood. He married Carol Roth on June 26, 1965, in Des Moines.

Mr. Garwood graduated from Guthrie Center High School. He owned and operated Garwood Electric and worked as a maintenance electrician for Chamberlain Manufacturing. He owned Garwood Trucking until his death.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Jayson of Grundy Center; a daughter, Charlotte Taylor of Shell Rock; four grandchildren, Shantel and Macy Garwood and Candace and Olivia Taylor; his mother of Vinton; and two brothers, Ted of Ogden and Sam of Vinton.

Preceded in death by: his father.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where visitation begins at 9 a.m. Cedar Memorial Chapel, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minn.

Jay liked to go fishing with his grandchildren and listen to music. He always loved a good cup of coffee and a card game.
