Daryl Michel, 46, died of a heart attack Sunday, April 30 in Valentine, NE.

Services were held Friday, May 5, 1989 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, IA with Rev. Stanley Harding officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, was in charge of arrangements.

Daryl was born December 17, 1942, in Atkins, IA, the son of Paul and Elda (Pooch) Michel. He married Jo Andrews on October 1, 1966 in Cedar Falls, IA.

He attended the Atkins Schools and graduated from Iowa State Teachers High in 1961 and from Milwaukee Institute of Mortuary Science in 1966. He earned a bachelors degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1967. He served in the U. S. Army in 1967 and 1968, stationed in West Germany.

He worked as a funeral director with Nelson-Richardson Funeral home while in Cedar Falls and then was employed at Cedar Falls Trust and Savings Bank. In Postville he worked at Mitch's Restaurant and Iowa Turkey Products. At the time of his death he was a manager with Pioneer Hybrid International in Doniphan, NE.

He was a Secretary of Pheasants Forever and President of the Nebraska Cushman Club.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Tyler, Hastings, NE; 2 daughters, Tonya and Tara, both of Hastings, NE; his mother of Cedar Falls, IA; a sister, Janice Gersch, Cedar Falls, IA; 3 brothers, Vernon and Dennis, both of Cedar Falls, IA and Steve of Waterloo, IA.

Casket bearers were Bobby Meyer, Larry Larsen, Lyle Opheim, Don Lindaman, Robert Slobe and Gary Cawelti.

Honor Guard was by the Guy W. Iversen Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49.
