WATERLOO — Ronald “Ron” Dean Swartz, 57, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 9, at Covenant Medical Center of complications after surgery.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1952, in Waterloo, son of Leonard A. “Sam” and Bethel Jenkins Swartz. He married Catherine Swanson Jan. 27, 1973, and they later divorced.

Mr. Swartz attended Waterloo West High School. He received a certificate in auto body repair and was owner and operator of Jubrasaro Body Shop. He worked for several years as a mechanic at the Waterloo Schools Bus Barn. Most recently he was employed by Aspro Inc. Asphalt Paving Contractors until forced into disability retirement by an injury.

Survived by: a son, Justin (Theresa) of Waterloo; two daughters, Brandi Swartz and Samantha (Ben) Graham of Des Moines; three grandsons, Caleb Swartz and Elijah and Evan Graham, all of Des Moines; a brother, Dennis of Waterloo; five sisters, Marsha Sewick, Marilyn Halley-Tarr, Janet Jones, Janice (Mike) Hartz and Crystal Hartmann; six nephews, and four nieces, all of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his parents, a grandson, Carmine Santiago Graham; three brothers-in-law, Wayne Sewick, PFC Russell Halley, and Mike Jones; and a nephew, Sgt. Robert A. Tarr.

Services: private graveside services were held. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, was in charge of arrangements.
