Kenneth Duane Courbat was born on February 15, 1923 in Norcross, Minnesota; the son of Ernest and Ruth (Bandfield) Courbat.

He was united marriage to Della May Colburn on October 10, 1948 in Waverly.

He had been employed at the Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in October of 1983. He served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Kenneth enjoyed wood working and fishing. He was proud of the cabinets he made for the old fire station and the bar he built for the Hudson Amvets. He also helped dig the basement for the Hudson United Methodist Church.

Kenneth is survived by four sons, Frank and Reda, Nick, Jim and Tammy, all of Waterloo and Douglas of Aurora, Colorado, two daughters; Nancy and Barry Lefstad of Vinton, Teresa and Gary Scharnhorst of Hudson, 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother; George and Marge Courbat of Land-O-Lakes, Florida, two sisters, Gladys Jacobs of Shell Rock, Dorothy and Gay Reints of Alexandria, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife on June 10, 2002, parents and two brothers, Dale and Shine.

Kenneth passed away on Friday evening, December 26, 2003 at the age of 80.

Services were Monday, December 29, 2003 at the Hudson United Methodist Church, Hudson, Iowa, with Pastor Dot Hasler officiating

Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories was in charge of the services. Interment was at Garden of Memories, Waterloo, with military rites by Hudson Amvets Post #82, Waterloo Amvets, Post #19 and Evansdale Amverts Post #31
