Travis W. Goodin, 41, of Cherry Valley, Ill., passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville, Wis., surrounded by his loving family. Born Feb. 14, 1969, in Waterloo, son of Michael Sr. and Diane (DeLapp) Goodin. Graduate of Belvidere High School, Belvidere, Ill., class of 1987. Married Nikki Roland on Aug. 6, 1994, at Grace Lutheran Church, Loves Park, Ill. Employed by Chrysler Corp. for 22 years and a member of UAW 1268.

Travis was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He was a gentle, kind man loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Travis enjoyed golf, fishing and vacationing with his family. He loved the outdoors and his garage and doing most activities with his brother and best friend Aaron. He especially liked beating his dad and brother at horseshoes. He enjoyed watching his daughter Leah perform in the theater and her sporting events. He shared the love of being an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan with his son Luke. He also loved to watch Luke play basketball and baseball. He was a member of Heartland Community Church.

Survived by his wife, Nikki; daughter, Leah "Lilo;" son, Luke "Bud;" parents, Michael Sr. and Diane Goodin; brothers, Michael Jr. (Will) and Aaron (Denice) Goodin; nieces, Madison and Miranda; father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Jenny Roland, Barb Goudy and special uncles, aunts and cousins. Travis had many wonderful friends. If you met him, you have a Travis story.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Mabel (Francis) DeLapp; paternal grandparents, Harlan and Frances (Stamatiades) Goodin; and uncle, Darrell DeLapp.

Memorial services 1 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine, Rockford, Ill, with Pastor Gordy Smith officiating. A visitation to continue the celebration of his life will follow the service at the Radisson, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. Travis continues to give, as he was an organ donor.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements completed by Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere.
