CEDAR FALLS — William H. Hammer, 75, of Reinbeck, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 17, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, from Parkinson’s with Lewy bodies dementia.

He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Cedar Falls, son of Harold K. and Clara E. Gardner Hammer. He married Bethel Morgensen on July 3, 1958, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Hammer served in the U.S. Army and was employed by MidAmerican Energy for 33 years.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Brian (Amy) of Centreville, Miss., and Jon (Judy) of Hudson; two daughters, Carmen (James) Girdner of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer (Ron) Vose of Dike; 14 grandchildren; and two sisters, Geraldine Smith of Chicago and Marian Damm of Las Vegas.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Vivian Webber.

Private graveside services: were today at Greenwood Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation/Lewy bodies dementia.
