CEDAR FALLS - Claude E. Brown, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 16, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Waterloo, son of Clarence and Ethel Herman Brown. He married Mae Miriam Hanson on Dec. 10, 1949, at Walnut St. Baptist Church, Waterloo. She died March 5, 2008.

Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in North Africa and the European Theatre of Operations. He worked at Rath Packing Co., Illinois Central Railroad and retired in 1980 from John Deere and Co.

Survived by: five daughters, Georgia (Mike) Sullivan of Grand Rapids, Mich., Claudia (David) Unger of Cedar Falls, Caroline (Dale) Evans of Cedar Rapids, Phyllis (Kent) Irwin of Cedar Falls and Marilee (Kerry) Thomas of Kingsley; a son, Darrell Brown, of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ina Haven of Grand Marais, Minn.

Preceded in death by: his wife; and two brothers, Ralph and LaVerne Brown.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorial fund: will be established.
