SCHIRM, HEGEWALD, SASSAMAN, BONNER, FLICKINGER

WATERLOO - Richard O. Schirm, 78, of Waterloo, died Friday, April 16, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of natural causes.

He was born March 26, 1932, in Newhall, son of Lewis and Agnes Hegewald Schirm. He married Carol E. Sassaman Jan. 2, 1965, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Schirm was employed by Titus Manufacturing for 13 years and by John Deere & Co. for 19 years, retiring in 1996. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean conflict.

Survived by: his wife, Carol; two sons, Brian of Waterloo and Brent (Kristin) of Norwalk; a daughter, Brenda (Brian) Bonner of La Porte City; two brothers, DuWayne (Lillian) of Garrison and David (Janice) of Vinton; and a sister, Lois (Dean) Flickinger of Traer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623.
